We were childhood friends from our time living in Hamburg, Germany, and were sharing a room in New York.
Almost every night, the two of them talked about their dream of "creating a casual, comfortable restaurant in the exciting city of Tokyo where customers can enjoy German beer and innovative German cuisine."In 2013, their dream finally came true, and they moved to Tokyo with almost no belongings and founded Schmatz in a warehouse in Nakameguro.

Schmatz lager is a Märzen-style lager, said to be the most traditional beer style in Germany.
This beer is made using dark Munich malt and roasted caramel malt, and has a distinctive caramel and sweet aroma.It has a beautiful golden color and is smooth yet rich in flavor.
